This theoretical-practical course is designed for beginner physicians or those with partial knowledge of botulinum toxin and its effects. We will focus on understanding its pharmacological properties as well as the different techniques used in facial procedures.

Additionally, an anatomical-topographical review of the different treatment areas will be conducted, allowing physicians to ensure their procedures and enhance their results

Content

Anatomy

Understanding facial musculature: origin, insertion, and mechanism of action of each muscle.

Facial Biomechanics

Evaluating facial expressions as a whole. Understanding the anatomical and clinical correlation of different muscle groups.

Pharmacology of Botulinum Toxin

Pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics. Mechanism of action and potential adverse effects.

Accurate Diagnosis and Managing Expectations

Proper clinical evaluation. How to ensure patient retention. Expectations vs. reality (myths and truths)

Application Techniques

Upper third: Treatment of dynamic wrinkles, eyebrow shaping. Middle third: Management of nasal and zygomatic muscles from an aesthetic approach. Lower third: Treatment of bruxism, hyperactivity of DAO, dynamic wrinkles in the Orbicularis Oris and Mentalis, as well as neck and platysma treatments for facial lifting.

Live Injection Practice

Participants will perform diagnostic evaluations and correlate patient anatomy with clinical characteristics (related to aesthetic concerns).
